JAMB Subject Combination for Mechanical Engineering

Mechanical Engineering is one of the most popular engineering courses in Nigeria. It focuses on the design, production, maintenance, and operation of machines, engines, manufacturing systems, and other mechanical equipment. Mechanical engineers play important roles in industries such as construction, manufacturing, power generation, oil and gas, transportation, and aviation.

Before applying to study Mechanical Engineering through JAMB, you need to know the correct UTME subject combination for Mechanical Engineering, O'Level requirements, Direct Entry qualifications, and the universities that offer the course. Meeting these admission requirements is important because using the wrong subject combination or not having the required credits can affect your chances of gaining admission.

If you are planning to study Mechanical Engineering in any accredited Nigerian university, this guide contains everything you need to know before registering for JAMB.

JAMB Subject Combination for Mechanical Engineering

Candidates seeking admission to study Mechanical Engineering are required to register the following subjects in UTME:-

  • Use of English

  • Chemistry

It is important to select the correct subject combination during JAMB registration, as choosing the wrong subjects may make you ineligible for admission.

What is the JAMB Cut-Off Mark for Mechanical Engineering?

The JAMB cut-off mark is the minimum UTME score required for admission into a course. However, each university determines its own departmental cut-off mark depending on the number of applicants and available admission spaces.

For Mechanical Engineering, the general JAMB cut-off mark starts from 180 and above. Highly competitive universities such as the University of Lagos, Obafemi Awolowo University, Ahmadu Bello University, and the Federal University of Technology, Akure may require much higher scores.

To improve your chances of gaining admission, it is advisable to score 220 or above, especially if you are applying to competitive federal universities.
